Parenting styles refer to how parents rear their children. Researchers (Diana Baumrind, 1966 and Maccoby and Martin,1983) came up with 4 main parenting styles: Authoritative, Authoritarian, Permissive and Uninvolved. The classification is based on two criteria: Demandness and Responsiveness. The Demandness refers to the expectations and discipline that parents demand from their children. The responsiveness refers to the parent capabilities and willingness to respond to the demands.
